In the interviews that I read, I learned some significant information. In the interview of Chris Thorsten, I learned that getting hurt was just a part of the job back then. He said, "You ain't an Iron worker unless you get killed...Men hurt on all jobs." Also, in the interview of Mr. Garavelli, he said, "Lots of stonecutters die from the silica." I also learned about the working conditions of women. The interview of Anna Novak, she said that the workers would bring in gifts for the bosses and if the women really wanted to be liked "You let the boss slap you on the behind." Also, Unions were talked about. In the interview of Irving Fajans, he talked about how to get people to show up to Union meetings but not get caught by the boss was to be really sneaky. "Another idea we had--swiped the key to the toilet paper dispensers in the washroom, took out the paper and substituted printed slips of just the right size! We got a lot of new members that way--It appealed to their sense of humor."

In the interviews I learned that working and living during that Great Depression was not an easy thing to do. Irving Fajans said that when he first started working at Macy's they were just trying to keep everything orangized and on task. But later on in the job he if you were caught distrubting union literature you would be instantly fired. Adding to that, Jim Cole, a packing house worker, said that the AFL the Amalgamated Butchers and Meat Cutters union wouldn't let him in because he was black. They never said that to his face but they sure implaied it.

The interviews that I read, I learned some important info from their sayings. I read the interview of Chris Thorsten, I learned the men back then got hurt a lot. Chris Thorsten said " that you aren't an iron worker unless you get killed, also men get on all jobs." The interviewer for Chris Thorsten was Arnold Manoff, this was taken on January 31, 1938. I also read the interview of Jim Cole. The things that I read from his interview is that he was disgraced by his color. He want to join the AFL Union, it was like a butcher and meat cutter union kind of thing,
